I have no desire to suffer, and I have no romantic notions about it. I do try and avoid it whenever possible, or shorten it or comfort myself in the midst.

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 1 Peter 4:12.

Suffering and trials are a part of life. Everyone is afflicted. We cope in different ways - sharing, closing up, denial, full immersion, blaming someone else, punishing yourself. Some sufferings are obvious and some are hidden but everyone suffers. One thing that increases suffering is isolation, or feeling like you are the only one. Suffering can be relative to what is happening around you.

It helps to remember that suffering is common to everyone and there is One who goes through our trials with us, and has gone before us in them. In your suffering don't isolate yourself from God or His people. It is often hard for others to understand but God always does because He is right there in it with you, in your heart and in your mind. He is suffering too, for you.

And it will turn out for good for you if you trust and cling to Him. He is bringing you through.

Suffering powerful and it will change things. It will change you. Don't be afraid of the changes that will happen because of suffering. God is always working for your good because He is good. Cling to Him.

And don't regret the changes that have happened as a result of your suffering. These are under God's command and will bring good also. Cling to Him.
