Purpose

What is the purpose of your life? What are you here for? It's hard to condense it down into one thing. I could say that I am here to raise my children, to love my husband, and do as much good as I can. Perhaps I could say I am here to write? Good things, but as a purpose they do not satisfy. They seem incidental. Why exactly am I here?
"I was made to adore you, made just for you." Toby Mac.
I love this song. This condenses my purpose down into one thing. I was put on this earth so that I could love God and be loved by Him. Perhaps that doesn't seem satisfying, but it is when you realise the implications of having such a purpose.
It means that my purpose is eternal because God is eternal. My purpose will not end with my life. I will go on loving God and being loved by Him, forever.
It's about relationship. I could never be satisfied with a purpose that only involved doing things. I want to personally effect other people and be a blessing to them. Why not start with the creator of all things?
I want a purpose that is bigger than me and my small sphere of influence. By loving God, I join His purpose, which is far bigger than me. I join His team, His family of millions of people. I can effect things globally, spiritually, eternally but I do it right here and right now, from my own lounge room; one person at a time as God brings them into my sphere. I am an irreplaceable piece in an enormous picture that is eternal, beautiful, and good.
And all I have to do is love Him, and be loved.
