Just lately I have been struggling with a sense of feeling incomplete. Everything around me is unfinished - our house, the yard, my writing, and my study - the very room in which I work.
I laid my complaint before the Lord, and this is what He said:
For everything there is a season ... Ecclesiastes 3:1 Finishing is better than starting ... Ecclesiastes 7:8 So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed ... Genesis 2:1 It is finished! ... John 19:30
Thank you Lord that You are the God of completion, and endings, and new beginnings. I had forgotten how carefully you made the world, completing each part before beginning the new thing next day. You yourself are complete, so we are complete in You.
Thank you that you care about me and are always at work, bringing things to completion. I am reminded that you rested and enjoyed each step in creation, and that you taught your people to celebrate regularly. I choose to follow your example and celebrate each small victory - each completion. Then I can look back at the end and know I have enjoyed the journey; I I am not just glad it's over.
Thank you for completing each thing in my life so that it cannot be undone; so it is a strong foundation. I am sorry for being impatient with You. I love You. Amen.
