Certainty

I have been told that there are only two certainties - death and taxes. I disagree. There is only one.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Rom 8:38.
The only certainty in life is God and His love. He created and is in control of everything, so He is the only certainty.
And really, this should be enough. If everything is made by Him, and for Him, and is under His command, and He is perfectly good, and He loves us, what more do we need?
We live in a world that bombards us with fear, and a strong sense of our responsibility for everything, because to the world, we are god. We are the ones who are ultimately in control. The world is ours and we must look after it, as well as everything else!
But the world is not ours and we have no control over it, or anything. We even struggle to control ourselves. We have a responsibility, and that is to trust the One who is in control, and obey Him. And because He is good and He loves us He will take care of everything else. He will even help us in our trust and obedience of Him.
This is not a licence for self-centredness. On the contrary, we need to forget ourselves if we are to trust God.
And if we do trust and love God then we will do what He says. Then our elderly will be looked after, and our world will be clean, and injustice will be dealt with, properly, His way.
So if you want to make a difference, trust God and become friends with Him. He is the only thing that is going in the right direction, and will make a permanent difference. Everything else is futility.
