Calling

What does that word do to you? For years it made me mad. Apparently there was something I was meant to be doing; something fulfilling, maybe even fun. It was something God wanted me to do but I just couldn't work it out. I tried one ministry. I tried another. I tried starting my own. But everything was hard. Doors kept closing. It all became a duty. I ended up doing nothing and feeling useless.

Irreplaceable

Today I am having a bad day. I wrote an article for the paper and my husband read it and said it was no good - after it was published. He normally likes what I write, so I figure it must be bad! Then a friend sent me some other blogs, to encourage me. They were good. Too good. Gritty, poetic, honest. What I thought I was - only better.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, that God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

Enthusiasm

Watching "Australia's Funniest Home Videos" one night there was a clip of a girl about 12 years old being given a birthday present. Without even opening it she began to leap around the room, delighted at the prospect of what it might contain. She was leaping so wildly that she lost her balance and crashed into the wall, bounced off that and nearly knocked herself out on the TV cabinet. I didn't laugh. I thought "serves her right."

Offense

I am writing this in response to something really important I've just learned. DON'T BE OFFENDED AT GOD!
